The Online-Reading program was the initial project that Little Masters Club launched at its founding. The original purpose was to provide children on both sides of the Pacific with a network platform for learning English and Chinese. With this in mind, Ms. Xueling Han and Ms. Chunfang Tian started this journey twelve years ago. They helped children in China and in the States coordinate time difference, overcome network challenges, choose communication software, adjust teaching materials, and tried their best to provide all children with a fair and easy reading environment. In the past few years, many children have learned ways and attitudes to solve problems through this program. They not only practiced English reading, listening and speaking, but also gained lifelong friendship.
By now, the first group of youth teachers in this program had already graduated from college, while the youngest participant at age 5 are just to start. We currently have 50-60 youth teachers from the States and hundreds of elementary students coming from over 10 cities among 5 provinces in China, each having their own stories and experiences of online reading. Every weekend, there are dozens of groups reading English online around the same time. Some students in China who participated in the program years ago now have become English teaching volunteers themselves, which were so amazing and testified the meaning of “Little Masters”.
