Board Members
Demi Yan
Demi graduated from Tianjin Normal University in 1996. She built up her career in the architecture and chemistry industries in China and co-ran a company with her business partner.
Demi started serving in the Little Masters Club (LMC) through the Root-Seeking program in 2017. She enjoyed this friendly, inclusive, and open platform. In 2019, she officially joined the Club’s council, chaperoned in the Shanxi Education Support Program, and took the lead of the Root-Seeking program and the Online Reading program. She hopes to live up to the excellence pioneered by her predecessors and to advance their storied legacy.
Li Chen
After finishing her graduate studies in Toronto, Canada, Li returned to China and worked at the Embassy of Canada in Beijing, where part of her job involved the operation of the Canada Fund in China to support the development of diversified non-profit organizations all over the country. After moving to Seattle with her family in 2016, Li got a better understanding of the well-established charitable and non-profit organization system in the United States. She fully supports the concepts and practices to encourage children to participate in community service.
Li joined LMC in 2019 by founding the Beijing Volunteer Program and leading a group of Chinese American teens visiting migrant worker families and providing a summer camp to underprivileged children in Beijing in the summer of 2019. She currently serves on the LMC board, responsible for public relations. Li aims to promote a multi-dimensional communication and cooperation among LMC and local governments, corporations, and other NPOs in order to encourage more children serving our community. Li holds a Master of Arts degree, majoring in political science.
Annie Zhou
Annie Zhou holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, a Postgraduate Diploma in Literary Theory, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. With over 20 years of experience in the media industry in China, she is a seasoned professional in video content creation, integrated marketing, and cross-media strategy.
After relocating to Seattle, Annie sought ways to contribute to the community and joined the LMC in 2020. She has used her extensive media experience to mentor middle and high school volunteers in reporting, editing, and other media-related skills. Moving forward, she will continue to leverage her expertise to make a positive impact on the community, parents, and children.
Stella Chen
Stella Chen earned her Bachelor’s degree from Fudan University and her Master’s degree from Peking University before completing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. After graduation, she moved to Seattle and joined Microsoft, where she has been working as a software engineer ever since. Beyond her professional career, she has been a dedicated community contributor and volunteer, serving on the boards of multiple NGOs and volunteering in many different organizations and events. She’s been leading monthly Chinese storytelling events in the community for more than ten years. Since 2016, she has actively supported LMC as a volunteer, participating in numerous events and initiatives. Outside of work, she is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys camping, hiking, skiing, etc.
Run Zhu
Run Zhu holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Peking University and is a Washington State-certified teacher with experience in psychological counseling, education, and community outreach. She has served in local government departments, contributed to public engagement initiatives, and operated the social media with local resources. Passionate about cultural exchange, she also organizes artistic workshops integrating Chinese calligraphy, painting, and traditional crafts. Through her role at LMC, she leverages her expertise in psychology, education, and the arts to empower individuals and strengthen the community.
